Fine tune your yoga knowledge!

Dru Yoga teacher and therapist Karen Custance has expertise in musculoskeletal treatment, and in manual therapy including counterstrain, visceral manipulation and craniosacral therapy. Karen brings her wealth of knowledge in this field to the discussion and practice of the cobra/sphinx posture and Viparita Karani, supported shoulder stand.

Join Karen and senior tutor Noelene Francis, as they deconstruct these two postures that are particularly valuable to practice for the winter months.

In this masterclass we will unwrap the posture on all layers, including
> anatomy
> myofascial meridians
> alignment
> physiology
> the impact on chakras, koshas and Ayurvedic doshas.

This Masterclass is suitable for Dru Yoga graduates. You will accrue 2 Professional development CPD points for viewing this masterclass.

Ayurveda Retreat

Booking myself on to the Dru Ayurvedic Weekend Retreat is one of the best spontaneous decisions I’ve made in a while. I have a reputation for leaving things until the last minute, in this case I booked my place just an hour before it began! I guess that’s one of the benefits of an online course - I didn’t have to physically get there, just make sure I was out of my PJs before the Zoom meeting went live!!!
After a few weeks of lockdown and spending perhaps a little too much time reading and watching the news, this online retreat gave me a much needed boost of positivity. It was wonderful to connect with all the other people who were attending, to see so many smiling faces, some new and some familiar.
The content of the course was superbly presented - a good balance of ‘live’ face to face information sharing, question and answer sessions, some ‘live’ yoga, meditation and chanting and then a series of pre recorded videos to watch. We were given plenty of short breaks throughout the day and a nice long lunch break, time to eat, read our notes, watch the videos and get outside for some fresh air.
Alongside the Zoom live video there was excellent support for anyone with technical problems, via the chat box, email or telephone. The chat was also a place to ask questions and share information.
The Dru Team did a great job of putting this weekend retreat together and I wouldn’t hesitate in joining them for another online course in the future. Obviously if I had the choice I’d prefer to be there in person, but this really is a great alternative until we can do that.

I liked the gradual building of positions into a sequence, so that you felt you had mastered each position before it became a sequence, which was very relaxing and confidence building. The workshop overall was friendly and welcoming, whatever level you are, whether you are a beginner or teacher. I was able to achieve positions I previously hadn't been able to because of the slow, precise instruction.

I would thoroughly recommend the APD to anyone that is considering doing it.
I have benefitted enormously from it.
I did the course during the covid pandemic lockdown. A time of anxiety and fear. The knowledge that I gained helped me to recognise and acknowledge my feelings and gave me tools to deal with them.
The yoga postures , sequences and breathing techniques that are already familiar can be used to change our emotional energy.
In the same way that we have learnt to scan our physical body for aches and pains and stiffness or injury and use yoga postures and stretches to ease ourselves , I have learnt to scan my emotional and energetic body and recognise negative thoughts and patterns and how to correct them. By doing this regularly I feel more self-confident and happy .
I remember a very powerful moment when we were doing the Eagle posture and imagining that we were looking down at ourselves and what we perceived. I thought ‘ I am cool ‘ ! That thought has stayed with me.
